Carowinds Amusement Park

During my stay in Waxhaw, I visited the theme park „Carowinds“ with my hostbrother Seth and his friend Daniel. It was the first day this year Carowinds opened, the weather was wonderful and it was also the opening day of a new rollercoaster, the „Intimidator“, so it was really crowded, but we had lots of fun.
Carowinds was opened in 1973, it´s right on the boarder between North Carolina and South Carolina and with 73 acres a very large theme park.
It contains every kind of rollercoasters, there are three wooden ones, the „Hurler“, the „Woodstock Express“ and the „Thunder Road“, which are all very shaky, so you shouldn´t take a ride after drinking lots of water...Then there is a standing one, called the „Vortex“, which is pretty fast and you have a feeling of being very light. Another rollercoaster is called „Nighthawk“, you lie in the car and as soon as you are lifted up, you´re turned around, so that you go down „head first“, which is pretty scary the first time. You can also find three steel coasters there, the „Afterburn“, the „Carolina Cyclone“ and the „Carolina Cobra“. They all are all very fast and have loopings and corkscrews.
But the „Crownjewel“ is the new hyper coaster, called „The Intimidator“, it´s the biggest, highest and fastest rollercoaster in the Eastern States, the first drop has a height of 232 feet, the top speed is 80 mph and on the length of more than a mile there are seven more smaller drops, a ride on this rollercoaster is really intense but also absolutely amazing.
Of course there are also other rides like the 160 feet high „Drop Tower“. It takes you up slowly and then drops you so you have a free fall; or the „Scream Weaver“, it´s like a ferris wheel which has been turned horizontally.
There is also an observation tower, the „Carolina Skytower“ with an altitude of 320 feet, so you have a great view all over the region.
In summer time, there´s a giant water parc with lots of slides, but it was still closed.
I would recommend everyone to visit „Carowinds, the Thrill Capital of the Southeast“
