Charlotte Bobcats
erstellt: 04.05.2010
On the 26th of March I had the pleasure to visit a game of the Charlotte Bobcats. They are playing in the highest basketball league in the United States, the NBA. I went there with my host father, my host sister and a few friends.
The Time Warner Cable Arena is in the city center of the Queen city Charlotte. It is a very modern and big stadium with seats for more than 40 000 fans.
After football basketball is the biggest sport in North Carolina. Like in Germany there are different price categories from 10 $ to more than 200 $.
The game started at 7 o’clock in the evening and the opponents were the Washington Wizards. Our seats were really close to the field so it was a great experience.Of course a hot dog and a cold coke is needed for the perfect American feeling. But it wasn’t only a basketball game. In the breaks there were a cheerleading and a BMX show. It is not impossible to compare the NBA to German basketball.
Even if you don’t know the rules it is amazing to watch these huge persons doing a lot of different moves. A couple of weeks before the game the basketball legend Michael Jordan bought the Bobcats and at the moment they are playing a very good season. They won the game with 107 to 96 points.
After the game we went to a bar in Charlotte uptown. All in all it was a great evening and the atmosphere in the arena was amazing.
This event is one of the reasons why I want to come back.
Everyone who is visiting the United States in the future should watch a basketball, football or ice hockey game even if you are not that interested in sports.
